The communication system of Burichang upazila is very easy. Due to the fact that the district headquarters is located at a distance of only 14 (fourteen) kilometers from Comilla and due to the convenience of communication, the educated people of this upazila live in Comilla town. Burichang Upazila is divided into two parts by the river Gumti. There are 03 unions (Mainamati, Mokam and Varella) on the west side of the Gumti river and the remaining 05 unions (Rajapur, Bakshimul, Burichang Sadar, Piryatrapur and Sholanal) on the north-east side of the Gumti river. Dhaka-Chittagong highway and Comilla-Sylhet highway are running through this upazila.
