Communication system
The communication system of this upazila is very good. Most of the people of the upazila live in Comilla town due to the proximity of paved roads and proximity to Comilla district town. The upazila is divided into two parts by the river Gumti. There are 03 unions (Mainamati, Mokam and Varella) on the west side of Gomti river and the remaining 05 unions (Rajapur, Bakshimul, Burichang Sadar, Sholanal, Piratrapur) on the north east side of Gumti river. The Dhaka-Chittagong and Comilla-Sylhet highways are located along the Burichang upazila.
